Autumn Night

Autumn Night
An autumn night in 1994
We opened that future door
Meteor showers, a silvery moon
A strong breeze took us forth too soon
No one knows where our path is going
We’re leaves on a river, swiftly flowing
I still see her youthful figure walking
Seawards we went down laughing
Along bales of hay on a stubble field
All the wounds of my past she healed
No one knows where our path is going
We’re leaves on a river, swiftly flowing
And ought to make every moment count
Today we’re walking through the park
Lashing rain over this town, so dark
My wife laughs, looking at me for long
Because our little girl sings a lovely song
No one knows where our path is going
We’re leaves on a river, swiftly flowing
We ought to make every moment count

The Dream And The Wings

The Dream And The Wings
I remember myself lying
At a high forest glade
There was beautiful silence
A dying tree gave me shade
Then I thought I dreamt I would be flying
I passed the woods and lakes and fields
With butterflies and birds and honey bees
Reaching stone and steel that displaced the trees
I rembember myself flying
Over tainted, industrial lands
The smokestacks of Mining Town
Memorials, out of mankind’s hands
Then I thought I dreamt I would be crying
Those machines held sway over mankind
I figured out the estrangement of a stranger
Who lost control and couldn’t dodge danger
Then I thought I dreamt I would be trying
To speak with gestures and countenance
I met typing fingers, idle glance on mobile phones
And lapsed into silence, yes, I left these human zones
Chorus:
And I thought these wings
Would raise me from those machines
That pulled their strings
For I saw these men’s hurried feet
In strict time to their society’s speed

Blacksmith's Fire

Blacksmith's Fire
When a dawn searches
Its young morning light
And healthy eyes escape
From being blind
When oceans scream for a water drop’s beat
And an organism blazes by a frozen flame’s heat
When all horizons burn, struggling for breath
And stubborn lungs brave stagnation and death
I will see my countenance
Tightly closed countenance
This vigorous language of silence
When a tree searches
Essential roots and soil
And weak hearts make
Substantial blood boil
When oceans scream for a water drop’s beat
And an organism blazes by a frozen flame’s heat
When all horizons burn, struggling for breath
And stubborn lungs brave stagnation and death
I will see my countenance
Tightly closed countenance
This vigorous language of silence
Suddenly your hands ruffle through my hair
We look into each other’s eyes and share
Strength like smithery from blacksmith’s fire
Far from all appraisement within our human mire
We know farewell
We know farewell
That terrible meal of our conscious mind
We know farewell
We know farewell
Someday forever

Sapphire Blue

Sapphire Blue
One day has gone, the earth has changed
By the river a knowing sky illuminates
And we could go down hand in hand
Breathing its silence we would understand
A few years have gone, our minds have changed
We are just wayfarers through a moment in time
You and I should taste the world we’re part of it
Touching a dead man’s bone we would admit
O sapphire blue after night
You allmighty strength, so bright
Thank you for this little place
And a second of life
In that bottomless space
Decades have gone, old senses have changed
The world outside so far away but also close
We are imprisoned dreamers in small rooms
A story so old, but still our human nature looms
O sapphire blue after night
You allmighty strength, so bright
Thank you for this little place
And a second of life
In that bottomless space

The Silvery Cross

The Silvery Cross
He lost a gift from his earlier days
Between shell and sand onshore
An obscure, silvery cross
vanished apparently forevermore
He touched his bare neck empty-handed
With a breathless and confused mind
Shrieking gulls and the roaring sea
Had made him deaf and blind
And through hours and days
He was searching high and low
Grubbed his fingers to the bone
In a desert-like sand, you know
He recognized sweet grassland’s smell
Inland movements and the open sea
And he caved into the sand
As deep as his feet could be
He was waiting for his day
But forever he would stay
And the sand was reaching out
After years one could see his figure
Nothing but skin and bone
Digging still deep down between
Shell and sand and stone
He forgot those years
He had lived before
His wife and children and their tears
This insane act closed a oneway door
He was waiting for his day
But forever he would stay
And the sand was reaching out

Cyclone Of Our Seasons
I closed my door without a noise
And went downstairs into my day
In the streets again I cursed this life
And all we ever needed to survive
It was the cyclone of our seasons
We danced with
And we danced inside
The roads were long and I drove so fast
Ran up too many stairs to the doors of disease
I just wanted home with a packet of money
To you, my darling, and our little honey
It was the cyclone of our seasons
We danced with
And we danced inside
The evening embraced me, recognition came
A forsaken moment would be left for good
No replacements and no repeats for sure
Every breath in our life was unique and pure
It was the cyclone of our seasons
We danced with
And we danced inside

Little Heart

Little Heart
October day, the west wind warms
A maple tree and rustling autumn leaves
Through this jaded town her laughing sings
Fatigued men and houses, streets she raises
And to cherish each second’s breath
Her little heart tells me
A dew drop meadow the morning sun reveals
Dandelion flowers in excited infant’s hands
Balcony curtains frame a windmill ladybird
Her sapphire children’s eyes, they beam in wonder
And to cherish each second’s breath
Her little heart tells me
October day, soon the north winds will blow
A passage of birds high above those times to come
My aging hands hold you tighter, my dear
A gentle voice is calling me, yes, I’m your father
And to cherish each second’s breath
Her little heart tells me

Driftwood

Driftwood
Here on this highway led by the waterside
I’m pushing the ghosts of my past through the night
Waiting for the end of every memorial thought
Driving my car to a sea of blustering waves
Where past and future don’t exist anymore
I just want to drift
I just want to drift
As driftwood at the mercy of the waves
As driftwood at the mercy of the waves
An abandoned wind sings its oblivion’s blues
And this is my star-bright road of no return
I just want to drift
I just want to drift
As driftwood at the mercy of the waves
As driftwood at the mercy of the waves
As driftwood, far away from shore
Here on this highway I’m drifting
Longing for the past to come again
Waiting for your hand in mine again
Our halcyon days to come back again
The sands of time I try to repress again
